Ok putting on the B&G's tonight and going for an alignment tomorrow. My question is; Is there anything special i should tell the guys at goodyear about our suspension when it's being aligned? I'm pretty sure(but could be wrong) we only need a front end alignment... thought i read the backs arent adjustable. Any input would be good. Damn i've been waiting so f*cking long to get my car lowered it's depressing! Can't wait... Thanks

Yeah, just a 2-wheel alignment to factory specs should be good enough. I don't know if any serious autox guys have come up with any voodoomagic alignment settings yet, but you probably won't need it.

No, a 2 wheel allignment is not good enough if you are changing all 4 springs.

Make sure they don't allign it to the plain 2.2 ion specs.
Yeah...have them try aligning your rear wheels. :freak5:

Just becuase it has a solid beam rear, that doesn't mean it cannot be adjusted. I wonder why Saturn would give the rear specifications out if it wasn't possible?:bangin:

They have the rear spec's, but there is no information in SI on how to adjust it. They tell you how to adjust front toe, cast, and cam, but nothing in the rear. Here are the stats, btw.

GM SI said:
Front Camber: -0.90° ± 0.75° Cross Tolerance: ± 0.75
Front Caster: 3.60° ± 0.75° Caster Cross Tolerance: ± 0.75
Front Total Toe: 0.20° ± 0.20°
Front Steering Wheel Angle: 1.00° ± 3.50°

Rear: -0.80° ± 0.75°
Total Toe: 0.25° ± 0.30°
Thrust Angle: 0.00° ± 0.30°

Yeah, the rear wheels should be aligned a certain way, but they cannot be adjusted. If you bend something, then obviously it'll be out of that spec. The only way to adjust the rear is to break it and then replace parts, and not with a conventional 4-wheel alignment. If you go to a shop and ask for a 4-wheel alignment on your car, they'll either look at you funny or happily take the money for extra work they don't have to do.

Those same type of factory specs are published on my Camaro, and it has a SOLID axle. The only way to adjust it is to get non-factory parts, which therefore makes it non-adjustable (from the factory) just like the Ion/Cobalt.

Getting my new tires any thoughts or recommendations regarding our alignment ?

I read a couple of theses old threads and they are interesting.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some customers have commented about transmission oil in the clutch housing, slipping clutches or broken axle shafts on this model. An analysis of several of these failures has revealed that the problem is due to excessive front wheel hop during WOT acceleration events.

Excessive wheel hop transmits a torsional shock load into the transmission case. This causes the case to crack and transmission fluid to leak into the clutch housing. See photos below.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Stiffer axle shafts and hardware will change the system harmonics and help prevent wheel hop. These planned changes will not be available until the 2008 model year.

Note:: Be advised that failures of this nature are abuse. They are NOT defects in materials or workmanship for which General Motors would be responsible and should not be covered under the terms of the new vehicle warranty. Vehicles with this complaint should be inspected by the dealer and Area Vehicle Manager. A product report should be submitted on each.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
